AMS Awarded Contract for Geodesy Demonstration Project
AMS has been awarded a contract for a Geodesy demonstration project in partnership with a Princeton University researcher and a Rhode Island based small business that specializes in developing and deploying custom ocean instrumentation. The DATAMARAN will be used to measure centimeter scale sea-bed movements in the Pacific Ocean in the vicinity of a fault line. These data will be used to refine mathematical models of our planet and eventually predict earthquake and tsunami events. Additional applications of this survey method include sea-bed subsidence monitoring, which is a critical requirement in offshore oil and gas field production operations.
